The wait is finally over for Apple’s new state-of-the-art, entry level iPhone. The long rumored model often referred to as the iPhone 9 or iPhone SE 2 is officially called iPhone SE. The new model retails from $399 and comes in three color and storage options.
The new iPhone SE has a 4.7-inch display (like the iPhone 8 that it replaces) which is smaller than the iPhone XR or iPhone 11. iPhone SE packs an Apple A13 Bionic chip inside, matching performance of iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro.
Its camera features a single 12MP sensor on the rear with 4K video recording at up to 60 fps. The front-facing camera offers 1080p video recording at 30 fps with a 7MP sensor.
Unlike iPhones with Face ID facial recognition features, the new iPhone SE retains Touch ID fingerprint recognition like iPhone 5s through iPhone 8. Battery life is comparable to the iPhone 8 despite lacking a 3D Touch pressure sensitive display.
The new iPhone SE also touts stereo audio recording and dual SIM support like the iPhone XS and later. Wi-Fi 6 is also supported like the latest flagship iPhones.
iPhone SE silicone cases are available in black, white, and pink sand for $35. iPhone SE leather cases are sold in midnight blue, black, and red for $45.
iPhone SE South Africa
I expect the iPhone SE to be available in South Africa by mid May 2020. Pricing will be revealed closer to the time.
